COFIT Students in Malta

04.03.2014

Last year, the International Factors Group (IFG) teamed up with FIMBank and the University of Malta to launch the world’s first accredited course on the subject of Finance in International Trade. The Certificate of Finance in International Trade (COFIT) is a six-week University programme bringing together a combination of theory and practice with over 200 class contact hours, and covering all aspects of International Trade, Trade Finance and Logistics.

Last week, COFIT students were in Malta for the third and fourth module of their course, which covered Finance and Instrument of Payments, as well as Marketing and Legal issues in International Trade. During the students’ visit, which was their second to the island,  these took the opportunity to network and further develop market-valuable skills.

IFG Secretary General Erik Timmermans stated that: “This innovative programme provides a sound framework for those wishing to seek a career in this field, offering a unique educational experience, both theoretical and practical. COFIT combines the expertise from three leading institutions and is an EU University-accredited qualification.”

One of this year’s participants, Messaili Adderrafik from Gulf Bank Algeria, commented that  “COFIT has increased my knowledge and understanding of Trade Finance. I am grateful to my employer for having supported my participation in this programme, to the professors of the University of Malta, as well as the Trade Finance specialists and professionals from IFG and FIMBank, for delivering a well-designed programme. I look forward to the final session in June.”

COFIT modules five and six include the IFG Academy Week on Commercial Finance, which will take place in June. Students wishing to apply only for the IFG Academy Week can submit their registration forms by not later than 1st May 2014.
