FIMBank sponsors International Banking and Finance Conference

14.08.2012

Malta-based Trade Finance institution FIMBank plc will be one of the sponsors supporting the International Banking & Finance Conference which will be organised by the University of Malta’s Department of Banking and Finance between the 29th August and 1st September 2012.

The International Banking & Finance Conference is the annual meeting of the European Association of University Lecturers in Banking and Finance, also known as ‘The Wolpertinger Club’. The Club is an association of university academics with a common interest in the economics of financial systems and financial institutions. It began as a club of professors who shared these common interests and decided to meet once a year to discuss their research, exchange ideas and develop ways to co-operate in the research and teaching of banking, financial institutions and the economics of financial systems. This year’s Malta event will see the participation of around 80 banking and finance academics from all over Europe. The Association’s management committee is currently chaired by Prof. Ted Gardner, from Bangor University, Wales.

Commenting on FIMBank’s support for the conference, the Bank’s President, Margrith Lütschg Emmenegger stated that FIMBank was proud to be associated with this event, and referred to the focus of this year’s ‘Jack Revell Session’, ‘Bank Credit and Global Economic Recovery’, as “particularly relevant”.

The conference will come to an end on Friday 31st August with a vocal recital by Soprano Lydia Caruana, which will be held at the President’s Palace at San Anton.
