Former President of FIMBank plc, Mr. Claude L. Roy passes away at the age of 57

FIMBank p.l.c. has announced that former President, Mr. Claude Lucien Roy of Quebec, Canada has passed away at the age of 57.

Mr. Roy was appointed President of First International Merchant Bank in February 1997 and served in this position until his retirement in September 2004. He joined FIMBank after a period of private practice as an International Trade Consultant, based in Massachusetts, USA. Prior to that, Mr. Roy occupied senior positions at Fleet International Bank and Fidelity Bank in New York and also worked for Wharton Export Network and Philadelphia PA.

Mr. Roy passed away peacefully on October 3rd at his residence in Springfield Massachusetts. He is remembered by his Wife Cecile nee Hamel, his dear sons Michael and wife Beverley, Daniel and wife Karen, his beloved grandchildren, brother and sisters.

During his stay in Malta, Claude made many friends and earned the respect of all those who knew him, both professionally and socially. Despite his impaired condition, Claude’s dedication to his duties will remain a source of inspiration to us all and he is thus remembered by his ex-colleagues at FIMBank and his many friends in Malta.

In remembrance, a memorial service will be held at St. Patrick’s Church Sliema, on Thursday 11th October at 5.30 pm. Colleagues and friends of the Roy family are invited to join in prayer for the repose of his soul.
