FRAUDULENT EMAIL - Lottery Prize Winning Scam
13.08.2007
FIMBank’s name is being mentioned in the context of a lottery email that is currently being circulated. FIMBank plc (or the “Bank”), previously known as First International Merchant Bank p.l.c. is referred to as the Bank that will be used for settlement of the lottery prize winnings.
We would like to notify the general public that this is a lottery scam email and the Bank has no relationship with any lottery organization, nor any agreement to pay winnings against presentation of original prize winning certificates.
If you receive an email containing this information or claiming to be from the Bank, do not reply or click on the link it provides. To report suspicious emails that use FIMBank's name, you can forward to fraudalert@fimbank.com
For further information, please contact our Customer Services Department on Tel: +356 21322100.
Tips for identifying fraudulent emails:
* Urgent appeals claiming that your account may be closed if you fail to confirm, verify, or authenticate your personal or security information immediately. FIMBank p.l.c. will never ask you to verify information in this way.
* Too-good-to-be-true offers are often just that. Do not believe emails or web advertisements that offer to help you earn money by transferring cash.
