- Recruitment and Selection Policy
The Bank’s recruitment and selection policy is one which provides equal opportunity to all applicants. We seek to employ individuals who will make a positive contribution to the delivery of the Bank’s objectives and to the values and aims of the organisation.
Appointment is based on merit, and is assessed in relation to the relevant selection criteria and position description. Applications must meet all essential criteria detailed in the position description to be eligible for appointment. Where equal merit occurs between an external and internal applicant, preference will be given to the internal applicant.
After the closing date for applications, we match these with the job specifications in terms of competencies, qualifications and experience. The most suitable candidates are short-listed and are invited for an interview, after which a second short-list is created. The panel subsequently makes the final decision and the successful candidate is given a job offer letter, which includes the job title, salary, benefits and the date the employee will start working for the Bank. On employment, the Bank requests the following documents:
- an updated police conduct certificate;
- a ‘fit-for-work’ medical certificate;
- references from previous employers and
- copies of the original certificates relating to cited qualifications.
New recruits are generally subject to six months’ probation, unless otherwise agreed. Unsuccessful candidates’ details are kept on record for a period of six months for other opportunities that may arise. After the expiration of the six months this information is removed.
